Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid period, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with former mentor his previous coach.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title after the Rome competition and initial on a hard court after spring of 2023.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has won 21 titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," said ranked player the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

However the player has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an improved serve.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair swapped breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

He rescued 4 early chances in a close deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
