The star has donated the complete sum of his £25k honor prize money to the Music Venues Trust, which works to save the UK's grassroots concert spaces.

He was presented with the cheque on October 16 as his latest record his work was chosen as the top album of the previous year.

The musician has opted to give the cash to the Music Venues Trust, in recognition of the vital role local spots had in his early career.

"I would not have achieved this success if it wasn't for all the performances I played around the region, and further afield, when I was beginning," said the artist. "These locations are renowned, but they are struggling."

Since the start of 2023, more than 150 of these locations have shut down – about 16 percent of the whole industry in the UK.

Recently, major artists like Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the MVT in its efforts to support the industry, by including a small levy to their ticket prices, which benefits smaller concert halls.

Fender also participated, raising over £100k on his live tour to support 38 local spots across Britain.

The donation assisted venues that were facing imminent closure due to issues caused by flooding, fire incidents and bereavements, as well as permit problems, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Other venues received monetary aid in improving amenities and technical equipment that helped artists and fans.

"The idea that revenue from performances in major spaces supports the smaller venues, where it all starts for artists like me, is just common sense," Fender has stated.

In 2002, artist she shared her prize among multiple charities, including the children's charity and a Sickle Cell charity.

"And I donated a £1,000 to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics program, because I did gymnastics when I was younger and they needed better apparatus," she shared with a publication.

In recent years, the band donated their winnings to the community center that supported their band, alongside other grassroots music organisations.

And 1994 winners they contributed their prize to a multiple sclerosis charity after a friend was diagnosed the illness.

"Receiving the award was quite enough," remarked singer Small. "The money was the cherry on top but we didn't need the cherry, because we had the honor. So our winning affected somebody else's life."

In the past week, the MVT announced it had saved several local spots in south-east England, by placing them under local control.

One venue in the city and The Croft in Bristol were purchased under the Own Our Venues program, which is funded by the arts council and music fans who purchase "stakes" in the properties.
